Another season, another great FIELD NOTES “COLORS” limited edition. This time, we kicked it up a notch: the new books feature a letterpress-printed French Pop-Tone “Gumdrop Green” 100# cover and graph paper with light green rules to match.
As with our first two colors, “Grass Stain Green” 3-Packs were offered for presale to our mailing list and sold out in a matter of hours. “Grass Stain Green” FIELD NOTES COLORS subscriptions have also sold out. (You still haven’t joined our mailing list? Do it now, top left corner of the site).
We were surprised and honored to find FIELD NOTES highlighted today in Kevin Kelly’s “Cool Tools”, along with a DIY lamination tip. Thanks for the kind words, John and Elon, we really appreciate being included in such great company!
While we’re typing here, we should probably let you all know that the summer “COLORS” limited edition FIELD NOTES will go on sale in the very near future. Subscribers, your two 3-packs will ship automatically. Mailing list subscribers will get first dibs on the rest. Our first two COLORS editions sold out before we offered them to the public, and these are the coolest yet, so if you’re not on our list, sign up now.
Coudal Partners’ Steve Delahoyde was in China last month documenting a writer and artist exchange program. Steve used FIELD NOTES to keep track of his 40 hours of footage across multiple locations. He snapped this photo while on a tour of Beijing National Stadium, the “Bird’s Nest” of 2008 Summer Olympics fame. “Right after I took that, there were four people who came out in gigantic, inflated costumes, dressed up like the olympic mascots. The costumes were way too big to move around or do much of anything, so they just danced around in these slow box steps to looping techno music. It was not much of anything, but all the tourists went bats**t insane for it.”

Big thanks to everyone who sent in a scan or photo of Field Notes in the latest issue of ReadyMade. Joseph sent us the above photo snapped by Casey Myers. And be sure to follow Field Notes on Twitter so you won’t miss out on other random mini-contests.
Our sturdy little memo books sure get around. Thanks to Cira who shared some pages from Zimbabwe with us. They’re full of good solid “Bush Advice” and check out the tab for lunch!

Thanks to Seth Neilson of Wasa Industries for this photo, which has nothing to do with anything, other than looking awesome.
