A Chilly Reception

November 23rd, 2009 by Bryan Bedell

Among other things, we strive for scientific accuracy here at Field Notes. To make sure we got things just exactly right on our “Just Below Zero” Winter COLORS edition we solicited the opinion of adventurer and all around good guy Ben Saunders. Here’s what Ben had to say…

“As an internationally renowned polar explorer, I can verify that these memo books have 100% accuracy when it comes to the coloring of winter and miscellaneous chilly things.”

So there you have it. “Just Below Zero” 3-Packs are sold out, but FIELD NOTES COLORS subscriptions starting with “Just Below Zero” are available now and if you subscribe for yourself and give one as a gift you can SAVE FIFTY BUCKS.

In the box

Whenever new technology comes out, we all love to see the “uncrating” stories, with photos of the shiny new gizmo being carefully removed from its packaging. It’s like a striptease for nerds. FIELD NOTES customer Keith Bolland had the bright idea to document the unpacking of his “Mackinaw Autumn” COLORS subscription, which maybe ruins the surprise a bit, but gives you a good idea of the “value-added” perks* you will enjoy with any FIELD NOTES order. Thanks, Keith!

Check out more great photos in our FIELD NOTES in action Flickr pool, or see all photos tagged with “FIELD NOTES.” Also check us out on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. We’re all over this dang internet. And don’t forget, new COLORS will be announced soon, get on our e-mail list NOW!

*note: “Perks” vary by order and availability.

Writing to Remember, and to Forget

November 6th, 2009 by Bryan Bedell

Aaron in Denver is using his customized FIELD NOTES (above) as a “Vinyl Want List” for record-shopping expeditions. (It also turns out we have a lot of common friends in the motorscooter scene, cheers Aaron!)

Vanessa here in Chicago is documenting a messy breakup of a long-time relationship on her blog “Nine,” and is looking forward to running out of space in her old notebook so she can break open her Grass Stain Green FIELD NOTES.

Andrea in Oregon found an 1880s FIELD NOTES ancestor, and points out that our “FN-09 Band of Rubber” (included in online orders!) makes a great cat toy.

Keep the stories coming to! And get on the mailing list (top left of the site), we’ve got some good stuff in the pipeline that will be announced soon!
