A while back, we were excited to learn that eminent graphic novelist Warren Ellis was a fan of FIELD NOTES memo books. Following up, Ellis recently posted scans of some FIELD NOTES pages, sharing a glimpse of his creative process, including a futurist nanotechnology concept, a bit of an Astonishing X-Men script, some dialogue for Gravel, and some layout notes for his collaborators.

To celebrate the first year of Field Notes COLORS we’ve put together this little video. The video was made with a still camera, some moss and a bunch of props but it was when the band Margaret Helen King (iTunes) from Canberra, Australia let us use their song Amen that it really came together. Thanks for that.

Oh man, we’ve been busy lately, getting FIELD NOTES “Just Below Zero” and 2010 Calendars out to the People. In the rush, we’ve fallen way behind on thanking all our great customers and friends that make us what we are:
Erwin Penders compares us to M-skins in Dutch, (presumably favorably!)
PFSK declares “Field Notes Is Bringing Color To Office Supplies,” which is kinda funny because we originally made our name by stripping the color out, right?
Zane St. SW spotted the handsome FN display at Nest Interiors in Amarillo, TX
Skaw got a sneak peek at a recent custom job for a little t-shirt company that rhymes with “headdress.”
Keith Bolland got his money’s worth out of his orange Mackinaw Autumn.
Julian Moffatt is addicted. Are FIELD NOTES disrupting your life? Call 312-243-1107.
Anoat1970 has a hefty collection, too.
Ballookey compares us to our inspiration.
Beau Colburn hopes 2010 is as big as his calendar.
Ryan Wolf has the FN holiday spirit.
As always, we really appreciate all the love and support, even if we take a month to acknowledge it.

Here’s a decidedly global post to welcome our newest retailers: First, we head over to Kuala Lumpur in Malayasia where we say “hi and welcome” to CZIPLEE. Next up, Reunion Island, an “overseas département” of France 120 miles off the coast of Madagascar, is the home of another new retailer, HIP ISLAND. The storefront pictured above will soon be carrying FIELD NOTES, welcome to LE LIÈVRE DE MARS located in lovely Marseille, France. Finally, we head on back to the States to Seattle, where we say “hi” to two new retailers, BLACKBIRD and THE FIELD HOUSE. Welcome to all!
If you don’t happen to live near Reunion Island, you can find a retailer near you here.

If your monitor starts sliding backwards because the foot has no grip, tape a FIELD NOTES “FN-09″ Band of Rubber on the bottom of the foot and get back to work. Solid.

3-packs of our Just Below Zero winter colors edition are sold out. Thanks everyone. You can still get them as part of a COLORS subscription or you may be able to find them, and maybe even some previous seasonal editions, at one of our awesome retailers. By the way, you can’t buy these but if you buy anything you’ll probably get one.
