Joe from Kent, OH, writes…

Since I got them, I take my Field Notes with me everywhere. This photo was taken by my fiance, whom I had just proposed to at the Parc du Mont-Royal overlooking Montreal. It was a beautiful setting, and an occasion worth marking in my notebook. Thanks for a great product!

Next, <a href="http://www.jayhathaway.com"Jay Hathaway from Philly had to use the facilities…

The setting: the men’s room at Union Station, Portland, OR. One stall available. The lock doesn’t seem to be working, though! What to do? Good thing you guys sent a pencil along with that order of Field Notes. It solved the problem brilliantly.

Finally, Luz from Arizona posted a story and photo on flickr about being stuck in a hotel lobby during a false fire alarm…

…so Todd tells us about a game called Racetrack that is played on graph paper.

“I just happen to have some graph paper!” I said, excitedly, as I whipped out my Field Notes.

“No way!” Todd laughed. “I discovered this game while looking at the Field Notes website!”

“Perfect,” I replied, happy to see my Field Notes save the day again.

Glad to be of assistance to all of you. We’ve got more game posts in the works, but we’d love to hear from you if you have a favorite graph paper game or activity! (crewATfieldnotesbrandDOTcom) if we post your suggestion, we’ll send you some goodies.

So this guy is staying at a hotel and the maid threw away his Field Notes memo book while tidying up his room. Aw man, I’d be beside myself. He kept his cool, scanned the room and decided to fight back.

He took matters into his own hands and went and retrieved them. You can see the scene illustrated right here.

Field Notes are good for recording precious memories like this one, as well as harrowing accounts of bravery, daring escapes, good nights out, bad nights out, gambling earnings, lists, short stories, treasure maps, mathematic equations and the occasional dumpster rescue that you just won’t yourself forget. This is why we say, “I’m not writing it down to remember it later. I’m writing it down to remember it now.”

Good work, Casual Brooks.

It’s obvious that FIELD NOTES are every bit as useful as a laptop computer or iPhone* at a fraction of the price, but did you know that we’ve bundled several great games into the package at no extra charge?

The first of these games is an action-packed racing simulator called “FIELD NOTES GRAND PRIX.” FNGP allows you to engage your favorite racers on any track you can dream up. For our example (above) we see a rematch of the epic 2006 MotoGP battle between Valentino “The Doctor” Rossi (red) and Nicky “The Kentucky Kid” Hayden (orange) at Laguna Seca. Rossi started out with an insane lead, but Nicky’s closing in on him with some intelligent cornering, this one’s going all the way to the podium.

The rules are simple but hard to explain, and many variables can be thrown in for variety. Graph Racers describes it well, and lists dozens of alternate rules, and Wikipedia’s entry for Racetrack (game) adds a little more detail on the math involved, be careful, you might learn something.
