Mike “Midnight Sun” Kirkpatrick knows how to use his Field Notes. The proof is in the pages above. No real estate goes unused. The idea of these things getting used way up north on those wild tundras sits very well with all of us at Field Notes. Our hearts swell with pride. Way to go, Mike. Keep up the good usage.

Andy Beach of the Reference Library sent in the beauty above a couple days back, and man, it is rife with greatness.
Page detail: “When in My Carhartt Gloves and “Overall Uniform” I Have an Easy Conscience as I Know They Are Honestly Made by a Manufacturer Who Is Honest with His Employees.”
The same sentiment applies to Field Notes, people. Same deal.

More friendly fire over the last couple days:
Relaxed Homeskool wrote up a lovely review, though we should point out that we’re fairly certain our erstwhile competitors do not actually slaughter moles to produce their notebooks. Naz linked us up, which isn’t surprising because his wife is at this very moment putting labels on outbound packages of Field Notes. Retrophisch also said “hi,” and the mighty Notebookism gave us a second shout-out.
In perhaps the most specific (and Teutonic) link we’ve seen, Field Notes have, in a roundabout sorta way, been suggested as an essential item for WWI German troops visiting the Western Front. We’re waiting for a call from The Kaiser any minute now.
Sooner or later, people will stop stroking our egos and we’ll write something more useful/insightful in this space. Promise.

Before P-Funk, there was G-Funk, “America’s Greatest Hybrid.” I’m not sure where to start heaping love on this design, you’ve got the phrase “Corn Data Notebook” which is maybe the greatest combination of three words in the English language, ever. You’ve got the essential map of the U.S. of A. with a signpost obliterating North Dakota. You’ve got Futura. You’ve got some sort of corn explosion. And best of all, you’ve got the “Call to Action” (“plant them!”) that clients love so much. This notebook is consistently good, year after year, right down to the pen squiggle resting on the cross-stroke of the “G.”
UPDATE: Check out Americana Resources’ Farm Related Paper Collectibles. Drap, have you seen this!? It’s like the MoOM of Funk’s G Hybrid Corn Data Notebooks.

Here’s a Florida contractor’s promotional memo book. Them’re some rounded corners, boy. It was nice of William F. Buckley to pose for the cover illustration.
