An embarrassingly late shout out to Audra of the long-running and great Nemu*Nemu comic. Ages ago, Audra sent us an awesome limited-edition Gocco-printed Field Notes notebook featuring Nemu and Anpan in Bob and Doug McKenzie garb, created in an edition of 15 to sell at a Canadian comics convention. The Canuckophile’s dream notebook references the album-only pre-song banter with Geddy Lee on “Take Off,” and we’re going to assume the root beer is a reference to Canada’s second-most-beloved-brothers.

Audra and her Gocco have been cranking out customized FIELD NOTES for a while now, and you’re in luck, the current “Up Up and Away” version is available now in the Nemu shop.

The photo above is from the brand new brick and mortar store of our very first online retailer, Three Potato Four. The new shop looks amazing and opens August 28th, if you’re in Philly, stop in and say hi to Stu and Janice. The lazy days of summer have been anything but lazy when it comes to adding new retailers to the Field Notes family! We have a big list to get through so off we go! We welcome our first retailer in Alabama, the nice folks at Auburn Hardware in Auburn. Heading over to Canton OH and the Malone University bookstore and then over to St. Paul MN and the nice folks at Micawbers Books. Moving on to Albuquerque NM and the lovely Farm Shop at Los Poblanos and then enjoying the sea breezes in Seal Beach CA where we find Golden State Goods. Taking a drive up the coast to Portland OR you’ll spot the fab new shop from Core 77, Hand-Eye Supply. Back in the Midwest in the Windy City, we welcome the Academy Bookstore at IADT Chicago and then we head back to PA and say hi to Trove General in Paoli. Across the pond we find Denim + in Bussum, The Netherlands and last but not least, we head down under and the fine folks at Division 2. Phew! A big welcome to all our new retailers!

COUNTY FAIR Box Set of All 50 State Editions

A special limited-edition complete set of 50 individual notebooks, one from each state, packaged in a custom box along with a 6 pack of Field Notes Clic Pens, a “BAND of RUBBER,” and a lovely First Place Ribbon to display next to your Championship Peach Cobbler, or to use as a bookmark in the set. Tied up in twine, the COUNTY FAIR Box Sets are $99 each and make a great gift for kids, or for recording your travels and learning about the U.S. of A. We’ll be using IL, IN, OH, PA and NY on a trip to the Adirondacks in couple weeks. Maybe more if we get lost.

We wanted to support the Renegade Pencils (and their cause) from the comfort of our air-conditioned office, so we outfitted them with special “Road to Mongolia” FIELD NOTES. These books are just like our regular graph paper books, but carefully translated into Mongolian, inside and out, by our new friend Otgonbayar at mongoliantranslation.com. It was no small challenge, but the wistful charm of our original text was preserved. We hope.
