Field Notes in Action

Goin’ Way South

October 26, 2017 by Jim

Ben Crew

Only one of these folks is about to traverse Antarctica, alone, unsupported and on foot. Ben stopped by HQ for a visit a couple weeks ago to give us the details of his upcoming journey.

Field Notes has been supporting explorer, educator and speaker Ben Saunders for years. Our Expedition Edition was developed for Ben’s 2013-14 Scott Expedition, during which he and Tarka L’Herpiniere walked to, and returned from, the South Pole on the same route attempted by Sir Ernest Shackleton and again by Robert Falcon Scott in the early 1900’s.

This November, Ben will set out to make the first solo and unsupported crossing of Antarctica. Along with Canada Goose,  Land Rover, Bremont, and lots of other great companies, we’re proud to be sponsoring this journey and are confident Ben will be successful. Ben has started the first leg of his journey, flying to the southern tip of South America yesterday. Follow Ben’s expedition here. Safe travels mate.
