Jim Moran served as Director of the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum for ten years. In 2019 he stepped aside to become the museum’s Master Printer and Collections officer. He’s retiring next week.
Working with Jim (and Stephanie Carpenter) on the “Two Rivers” edition is one of our favorite memories here at Field Notes, and resulted in my favorite edition. Jim and Stephanie cheerfully jumped through hoops to accommodate us. Jim spent months of late nights at the museum, printing Field Notes covers on his Heidelberg windmill press. Thanks to Jim and Hamilton, we’ve made countless great friends in the letterpress community, and Matt and I return to the museum every chance we get, it’s our “happy place.”
Congratulations on your retirement Jim, we’re lucky to know you, and we wish you the best. Retirement means “more time to print,” right?
