Get on The List today because “Tomorrow We Roll”
Hope you’re all staying safe. Like everyone, we’re rolling with the changes these days. Our online store is open, and we’d truly appreciate it if you’d purchase some Field Notes.
Introductions and Some Fun
We figured since we all have time on our hands these days, it would be fun to get to know each other a little better and also give away some cool stuff. Meet Bryan.
“Hello, everyone, I’m Bryan, I mostly do design and photography here at Field Notes, but help out with a little bit of everything, we all overlap quite a bit. It’s very rewarding to create a substantive (and hopefully handsome) product, to have a big box of ‘things I’ve made’ as evidence of my years of work here. Meeting a lot of you in our shop and at our events, and seeing that you get as excited about Field Notes as we do, well, that makes it even better.”
“I’ve lived here in Chicago for about 30 years (since right after college) and 22 years ago, I started working here at Coudal Partners, married my wife and co-conspirator Tracie, and bought a house way out on the western edge of the city. In the meantime, Coudal Partners has mutated into Field Notes, and we’ve hatched two pretty-decent kids (Calvin is 10, Milena is 16). Along with photography, my big hobby is vintage motorscooters, I have a couple old Vespas and spent all winter last year building a 1962 Lambretta from a bare frame and a bin of old parts. Finding questionable old junk and bringing it back to life keeps my brain busy over the long winters, and keeps me out of trouble. My current project is a 1963 Seeburg jukebox that I bought for Tracie 15 years ago. Turns out jukeboxes have a lot more wires (and dodgy 55-year-old electrolytic capacitors) than a scooter, so I’m in way over my head, but with some help from the manuals, the US Navy Electronics course (NEETS, free online, check it out!) and folks on the internet, it’s working again and I’m blasting Argent, Freda Payne, and Sebadoh while I work at my dining room table.”
“Here’s a little paper model of my jukebox you can build to stave off boredom, and a playlist to listen to while you build it.”
Now Here’s Your Part
Say hello back by posting a selfie of you holding a Field Notes product and tell us a little about yourself. Be sure add the tag #HelloFieldNotes to your post. Or send it to [email protected]. We’ll collect all the entries we receive and see on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and randomly choose three winners. We will send each winner a rare, out-of-print Field Notes Edition from our archives. We’ll pull the winners from the entire pool of entries, so if you’ve already said hello, you’re in for every day’s drawing.
Winners and Prizes
Friday’s random winners are Stephanie, a night shift Neonatal ICU RN, Nia in Carson, California, and Gabriel in Brooklyn. They will each receive the “Snowblind” Edition 3-Packs from the Winter of 2015, which are coated in a nearly-magical “photochromic” ink that changes from white to blue when exposed to sunlight. Congrats.
Today’s winners will receive the “Campfire” Edition from the Summer of 2017, printed with bold line screens and solid spot colors, each 3-Pack includes A “Campfire Master” patch. Check out the film too.
Tomorrow, another one of us will say hello, announce the winners, and let you know what the next prize will be.
It’s nice to meet you.
