Hope you’re all staying safe. Like everyone, we’re rolling with the changes these days. Our online store is open, and we’d truly appreciate it if you’d purchase some Field Notes.
Introductions and Some Fun
We figured since we all have time on our hands these days, it would be fun to get to know each other a little better and also give away some cool stuff. Here’s E.
“Hello! My name is Erica Noelle Reid Gerdes (ENRG), and I have been a part of the Crew at Field Notes for about 4.5 years. I work on the Wholesale and Custom teams, and I am a stickler for proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. When I am not at FN, I am a director, dancer, choreographer, actor, comedian, tv and stage producer, web series host, caregiver, wedding officiant, and the DJ for She’s Crafty--Chicago’s All-Female Beastie Boys Tribute. (Twitter, Instagram) Needless to say, I have a lot of fun.”
“I moved to Chicago 20 years ago from the great state of Mississippi, and although I am a pretty solid Midwesterner now, I will always be a Southerner in my heart. My husband Fuzzy and I live on the Northside of Chicago with our 3 adorable cats: King Waffle, January Manitoba, and Professor Sandra “Turnip” Mousemittens. Fuzzy and I love to cook and make cocktails.”
“Speaking on which, here’s an easy and flexible cocktail recipe that uses ingredients you might already have at home. It’s a bit tart, a bit sweet, and super delicious. I call it the Whatever Gimlet.”
1 & 1/2 oz Spirit of Choice: Vodka, Gin, Rum, Whiskey, whatever you have
3/4 oz Lime Juice: can be fresh, or bottled. If bottled just check to see if it is concentrated, and if so, dilute to regular strength
1/2 oz Sweetener: Maple Syrup, Simple Syrup, Agave, Honey, whatever you have
Vigorously shake ingredients together over ice and serve on the rocks. Don’t have a shaker? A thermos or plastic to-go food container works great! Like a sweeter cocktail? Use equal parts sweetener and lime. Want it a little stronger? Add more spirit! Anything goes! I am a big fan of the Whiskey & Maple Syrup combo, myself. If you make one, let us know your combination!”
“Fuzzy and I go to as many concerts as we can, my favorites being Andrew Bird, Phish, anything 90s grunge (Soundgarden forever), Radiohead, Dixie Chicks, and basically any big arena or small club show that I can get tickets to. PSA: always wear ear protection!”
“I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy and are able to hold onto things that you love during this challenging time. I look forward to meeting you all!”
Now Here’s Your Part
Say hello back by posting a selfie of you holding a Field Notes product and tell us a little about yourself. Be sure add the tag #HelloFieldNotes to your post. Or send it to [email protected] We’ll collect all the entries we receive and see on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and randomly choose three winners. We will send each winner a rare, out-of-print Field Notes Edition from our archives. We’ll pull the winners from the entire pool of entries, so if you’ve already said hello, you’re in for every day’s drawing.
Winners and Prizes
Monday’s random winners are Retired US Navy Senior Chief Engineman Krickit, Jeff from the Pacific Northwest, and Zula from Oceanside. They will each receive a 2-Pack of the Note Book sized “Arts and Sciences” Edition from the Summer of 2014, plus a pair of matching 1½" buttons. Congrats.
Today’s winners will receive the “Ambition” Edition from the Winter of 2014. Each 3-Pack is made up of a datebook, ledger, and memo book, in “Chocolate, Olive and Wine,” with page edges gilded in gold. Check out the film too. Tomorrow, another one of us will say hello, announce the winners, and let you know what the next prize will be.
It’s nice to meet you.
