Every Friday, join Steve and Bryan and hear — for the first time — the stories behind Field Notes’ promotional films.
For some time, we’ve been planning to host a live event with Field Notes’ Steve Delahoyde (director/editor) and Bryan Bedell (henchman/hand-model) showing some of our short films and offering behind-the scenes commentary. With Covid-19 keeping us all home, we suddenly found the time to pursue the project, figuring it’d be fun to watch through the films together, remotely, while recording a simultaneous bonus commentary track. That proved impossible, as the films are generally short and we found a lot to say about them, so we ended up playing through the film once, then watching again with lots of pauses and jumping around as needed to tell our stories.
The results are… well…
Hardcore Field Notes fans will get a kick out of it. Budding filmmakers might get some insight into the auteur’s process. Competitors may glean some of our closely-guarded trade secrets. Hopefully Steve and Bryan’s chemistry, on and off the set, shows through. In any case, this will keep Steve busy, and provide tasty content for those of you that just can’t get enough Field Notes.
See all the original versions, uncluttered with yammering, in our film archive.
