Get on The List today because “Tomorrow We Roll”
We’ve supported many projects over the years. Most of them altruistic, or artistic, or beneficial to society in some demonstrable way. Not this time.
A bunch of Chicago guys removed the roofs from a fleet of crappy cars and competed in a cross-country rally called The Chop Top Challenge. We’re sorta proud to say that The Choparazzi, the car we sponsored, won. In exchange for our meager donation, we received the photo above. Seems like a pretty good deal.
Our Story Checks Out
The crew at Cult Pens in the UK tweeted about our “Coastal” Edition. Regarding the geography of the covers, they “didn’t want to just take our word for it,” so they “checked them on a map using a big screen and MT Tape.” Thanks for the confirmation, and for carrying our full line of products too.
Postcard from the Edges
“Field Notes chose to focus on the shape of the coastline, at a scale which removes most of the intricate detail. The contour lines are there to represent land and its rough, rather than exact, elevation. The reticle crosses represent the sea, but don’t indicate anything other than that (such as depth, for example). I think that is a very good thing. The edition is called ‘Coastal’ and it really prioritises that feature.”
Check this in-depth exploration, accompanied by lovely photography and some input from our own Bryan Bedell. The Cartography of the Field Notes “Coastal” Edition at The London Parchment, Priya Wells, Proprietor. Thanks for that.
Hey Nerds!
Observant Field Notes follower, John Coakley Jr. noticed that our “Solve the Equation and Win a Free Pen” contest found in the Sciences book of our long-sold-out “Arts and Sciences” Edition, ends on December 30th of this year. Despite some effort, the prize has not yet been claimed. But there’s nothing like a hard deadline to get you to finish your math homework, so happy solving. Please note that we have moved since this was first published. Send your proofs to 401 North Racine Avenue, Chicago 60642.
Onwards
Midwest HQ and Northwest HQ are both cranking away on one of our most ambitious releases ever, for the Summer Limited-Edition. There’s still lots of production testing, filmmaking and background research to be done, but if you could see what’s on Bryan’s desk (and Aaron’s screen) right this minute, you’d flip out. Seriously.
We’ve enlisted a co-conspirator who is way smarter than us for the Fall release, and we’re excited for everyone to see the result of that. No spoilers, but it’s going to be especially sweet to be a subscriber when that one drops. And the way it looks now, Winter should be a stone cold classic.
Start a year-long subscription with “Coastal” right now and you’ll be all set for what’s to come. Your first shipment will go out right away in our new Landland-designed box and include a free, and sorta weird, 10th Anniversary 3-Pack too. Talk to you soon.
